Design breakdown
01Wrap-around edges
Any grass stroke exiting an edge re-enters at the same position on the opposite side. That discipline is the entire difference between a tile and a tiled-looking tile — place four copies and the grid disappears.
02Low value range
Four greens, with the lightest reserved for a handful of highlight pixels. A ground tile's job is to sit behind gameplay; most of the area lives in the two mid tones.
03No directional bias
Blades lean every which way in equal numbers. A consistent lean becomes obvious the moment tiles repeat, and per-tile polish cannot fix it.
How to customize
- Shift the ramp hue toward yellow for a savanna variant or toward blue for shadowed forest floor.
- Scatter 3–5 darker 'soil' pixel clusters for a worn path version.
- Add one small flower cluster per variant tile — then rotate 2–3 variants across the map.
Animation ideas
- Wind sway: duplicate and shift the top-quarter highlight pixels 1px right, alternate slowly (400ms).
- Sparkle: a single light-green pixel blinks in different positions across 3 frames.
- Season variants: recolor the ramp, keep every stroke in place — instant autumn/winter sets.
