Pixel Asset Lab
About Pixel Asset Lab
A free, browser-based workspace for game-ready pixel art.
Pixel Asset Lab is a free, browser-based workspace for creating pixel art assets for games. It is built for indie game developers, pixel art learners, RPG Maker users and content creators who need game-ready sprites without installing software or creating an account.
What you can do here
- Draw — a precise pixel editor with grid, palette and integer zoom ( Pixel Editor).
- Generate — start from an AI-generated concept, then refine it by hand ( Pixel Art Generator).
- Build — combine frames into game-ready sprite sheets ( Sprite Sheet Maker).
- Export — transparent PNGs and sprite sheets, scaled with nearest-neighbor so pixel edges stay sharp.
Our principles
- Your artwork lives in your browser by default — local-first and private.
- The core tools work without an account; sign-in only enables optional cloud sync.
- AI output is a starting point, never a final game asset — you always refine it in the editor.
How to start (3 minutes)
- Open a guided example — a finished 16×16 sprite that loads in the editor with step-by-step notes.
- Change a few pixels: pick a palette swatch, draw with the pencil, undo with Ctrl/⌘+Z. The editor autosaves to this browser as you work.
- Export a transparent PNG at 4×–16×. Nearest-neighbour scaling keeps the pixel edges hard.
Feature notes
- Pixel Editor — integer zoom (1×–32×), pixel grid, checkerboard for transparency, palette with recent colours, undo/redo history, autosave. Shortcuts: P pencil, E eraser, G fill, I eyedropper, H pan, +/− zoom, 0 fit.
- Pixel Art Generator — prompt → pixel concept via Workers AI, then refine it by hand in the editor. AI output is a starting point, never a finished asset.
- Sprite Sheet Maker — drop frames in, set columns, spacing and padding, and export one game-ready sheet.
- Workspace — local-first library of your projects, with optional cloud sync after sign-in. Signing in is never required to draw.
The tour is shown automatically the first time you visit, and stays available from this page and the homepage.
