Game Asset Size Guide
How the assets in one game relate in size: characters, tiles, props, bosses and pickups on a single scale chart.
Relative scale (character = 1 unit)
| Asset | Relative size | Example at 32px character |
|---|---|---|
| Pickup / coin | 0.25–0.5 unit | 8–16 px |
| UI icon | fixed 16 px | 16 px (menus only) |
| Props (barrel, crate) | 0.5–1 unit | 16–32 px |
| Character | 1 unit | 32 px |
| Door / doorway | 1.5–2 units tall | 48–64 px tall |
| Large enemy | 1–1.5 units | 32–48 px |
| Boss | 2–3 units | 64–96 px |
| Tree / building | 2–4 units | 64–128 px |
Pick the character size first — every other asset compares to it.
Keep everything on one integer scale; mixed scales read as a bug, not a style.
